Solar Traffic Controls provides intersection advance warning flashers to MCDOT

TEMPE, AZ - 01/05/2006 - The Phoenix metropolitan area continues to expand and require more traffic control. Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) chose Solar Traffic Controls to provide advance-warning flashers for a newly signalized intersection: Loop 303 in west Phoenix; a high-speed roadway connecting the area to Interstate-10 across several miles of farmland. Several major cross streets intersect Loop 303.

Solar Traffic Controls provided a 24-hour dual amber 12" flashing beacon system for the project at each approach to the intersection of Loop 303 and Greenway Road . Each system is configured with a 130W solar-powered array and three batteries. The system uses Precision Solar Controls second generation LED lamps which have one of the highest optical outputs for the electrical power consumed. STC has furnished similar systems for use throughout the county on past projects as well.
