STC provides additional flashers to MCDOT

TEMPE, AZ - 08/28/06 - Three more intersection advance flashers have been delivered by Solar Traffic Controls to Maricopa County DOT (AZ) and installed along the expansion of Loop 303 in the west Phoenix metropolitan area. Loop 303 is a high speed arterial with intersections located along the route.

MCDOT is installing both AC and solar-powered intersection advance flashers on this route. STC will provide additional units as intersections are completed.

The system uses two 12-inch amber DC LED lamps from Precision Solar Controls. These lamps were chosen for their high daytime optical output of 1100 candelas on center, which exceeds the ITE standards for optical output. Installation work for the project was completed by ITS Engineers through an annual contract with MCDOT.
