Targeted AC Hybrid Fire Station Controller manufactured by STC

TEMPE, AZ - 02/21/2011 - Solar Traffic Controls of Tempe, AZ has released an AC controller specifically targeted for hybrid fire station controllers. The hybrid fire station control, which was detailed in the 2009 MUTCD, features dark signals in standby; a flashing amber interval upon activation; followed by a solid yellow interval; and finally a flashing red interval.

Previously, the only way to achieve the necessary function was to use a signal control cabinet. The STC Model 80FS2 is designed to meet all these needs from a control unit which can be wall mounted in the fire station. It is connected to the signal assemblies in front of the station with a hardwired connection.

The unit includes a large mushroom switch on the front as well as an AC power status LED. When the button is depressed to initiate operation, audible feedback is given to the user with an internal buzzer.

All timing can be adjusted inside the unit using the LCD screen and the 6 user interface buttons. As the control cycles through the intervals, the LCD screen shows the elapsed operating time for each interval. Power control is handled with relays inside the enclosure and each relay includes a status LED to show when it is active.

All electronics are housed in mill-finished aluminum enclosure with a No. 2 lock which can be mounted to any vertical surface in the fire station. Options for remote mushroom buttons and enhanced DC power supplies for pre-emption emitters are available.

STC acknowledges the valuable input it received from its Midwest distributor, Traffic Control Corporation, in developing this product.
