Gilbert, AZ Expands systems with STC equipment

TEMPE, AZ - 06/18/2007 - Gilbert, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix, has again expanded its network of solar-powered school zone flashing beacons. Six flashing beacons have been added to their network for a total of 18 units throughout the city.

All of the units feature dual 8-inch amber DC LED lamps and Nighthawk paging receivers. Flashing beacons are managed from the traffic signal office using off-the-shelf software for scheduling paging messages. They also may be activated manually from any telephone through passwords. Gilbert has successfully used pager-activated school zone flashers from STC since 2001.

An unusual requirement was for one flasher system to match the dark green metal hardware of the traffic poles in Gilbert's Old Town district. STC pre-assembled a system and had it powder coated to the town's specifications.

Installation was performed by Trafficade barricade services and paging services are provided through Nighthawk Systems.
