STC donates toward FIRST Robotics Team
TEMPE, AZ - 01/04/2012 - As part of its goal to support technical education in Arizona public
schools, Solar Traffic Controls has made a substantial monetary contribution
to the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) for its FIRST Robotics
team. EVIT is one of the best resources Arizona students have to guarantee
themselves success. Upheld as a model for career and technical education by
the U.S. Department of Education, EVIT provides students with the advanced
skills and training needed to thrive in today's competitive job market with
hands-on training in their fields of interest.
STC became aware that EVIT had a team and donated money to aid the team in
meeting one of their fund raising deadlines for the 2012 competition. STC
has also pledged to provide additional support during the building phase of
the program with some of the tools needed by the team. Additionally STC
president Joe Wise will be offering time and technical assistance to the
team for the 2012 competition.
FIRST was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and
participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the 501
(c) (3) not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative
programs which motivate young people to pursue education and career
opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building
self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills. This is achieved through the
annual robotics competitions sponsored by the organization at both the local
and national levels.
