Casa Grande increases its IRWL systems
TEMPE, AZ - 11/02/2010 - Two more In-Roadway Lighting (IRWL) systems were
delivered and installed in the city of Casa Grande, AZ in September. This
brings the total IRWL-equipped, mid-block crossings to 7. The city purchased
its first system in 2007, and continues to rely on dependable and affordable
STC systems.
Each crossing includes an STC solar power adapter unit and 10 - TS500 IRWL
lamp fixtures. Each system has an advance radio-activated flashing beacon.
When the button is pushed and the IRWL fixtures turn on, a signal is sent
down the street to activate the flashing beacons, thus giving motorists
additional time to react to the pedestrians ahead. The beacon assemblies
consist of dual 8-inch amber DC flashers operated by the STC XSR control
package. All units in the system include an LCD screen for the user
interface and allow adjustment of parameters via 6 user buttons on the front
panel.
