STC supplies Wavetronix Power Systems for CAL Trans ITS Project

TEMPE, AZ - 05/04/2009 - Solar Traffic Controls has furnished 58 solar power packages for sensor systems for a CAL Trans ITS project in the first quarter of 2009.

The project consisted of two types of power systems, depending on site-specific load requirements, in Southern California. STC worked closely with both Advanced Traffic Products (ATP) and TDS Engineering to create a winning solution to power Wavetronix sensors and cellular modems.

The solar equipment package had to be easy to install in the field as the enclosures were supplied by another party and the STC equipment installed into them on site. STC was able to furnish a system that went beyond the CAL Trans spec which included a number of key enhancements such as keyed power disconnects to make the equipment more field-friendly. Other features included a charge/load controller with LCD metering.
