STC Solar Ped-X Crosswalk Systems to U.S. Army facility
TEMPE, AZ - 03/01/2012 - STC has furnished crosswalk systems to Fort Leonard
Wood, Missouri, through Traffic Control Corporation's office in that state.
The project consists of co-located pedestrian crossings.
STC furnished its 'wireless' crosswalk system, the Solar Ped-X, which
includes wireless supervised communications between points in the system
using spread spectrum radios.
All systems are self-contained with control logic on each point; built-in
self-test function; fault handling modes; and a solar-powered system sized
to meet the load, location and duty cycle requirements for the project.
Addressing of the radios along with different hop patterns allows operation
of multiple systems within proximity without interfering with each other.
Each beacon unit uses a single STC Generation 2B, 12-inch amber DC LED lamp
to warn motorists. STC manufactures the lamps in the U.S. from foreign and
domestic parts. Systems are equipped with Polara Bulldog buttons for
reliability and durability. Solar Ped-X systems can be configured to operate
an RRFB lamp assembly instead of the standard 8-inch and 12-inch traffic
lamps.
