STC furnishes solar flashers for US Army Project in Afghanistan
TEMPE, AZ - 02/28/2008 - Solar Traffic Controls has been informed that a
design submitted to the US Army in Jalalabad, Afghanistan has been selected
for deployment. The flashers will use a red X and green arrow indicator to
control the flow of traffic on roadways crossing the runways at the base.
The lamps will flash the green arrow in standby mode. When the road closes
for an approaching aircraft the indicator shows a solid red X.
The equipment to be fielded will consist of a modified version of the Solar
Ped-X "wireless" crosswalk flasher system. Control of the equipment will be
through the use of an operator panel located in the control tower and will
communicate with the tower through FHSS radio links.
