Buckeye, AZ becomes "greener"
TEMPE, AZ - 03/01/2012 - Buckeye, AZ becomes "greener" with STC beacons and
grid-tie power
The town of Buckeye had additional solar flashing beacons installed in
January increasing the number of systems spread throughout the town. The
beacon systems included self-contained solar power systems with the STC-01
programmable time clock. The new systems use 12-inch amber DC LED lamps for
their indicators. The solar flashers were installed by Spear Construction of
Glendale, AZ.
Solar Traffic Controls also furnished the town with a Desktop Programmer
(DTP) kit which includes memory modules to transfer the school beacon
schedule to units in the field. The DTP includes an STC-01 with a wall cube
for power and a status LED to verify programming of the schedule. Typically,
users spend less than 5 minutes per system transferring data from the memory
chip to the field clock and verifying the current time, day and date.
Buckeye is sold on STC solar flashing beacons and solar for public
facilities as shown in the project photo. The STC flashing beacon is located
adjacent to a grid-tie solar power system at the school's facility. Many
schools in Arizona are adding solar grid capacity to offset their annual
power bills and demonstrate environmental responsibility.
